2023 Mazda 6 – In the past few decades, it’s hard to determine what Mazda’s plans are for the future of its products, including the Mazda 6. Rumors suggesting that the sedan will change to a rear-wheel-drive platform have been circulating since at the very least 2017. Although it’s still possible, don’t expect the Mazda 6 to abandon its front-wheel-drive layout.
The Mazda 6 will likely retain its current platform, at least for another generation or two. This isn’t surprising since the Mazda 6 has been doing pretty well in the market despite being one of the oldest models in Mazda’s lineup.
2023 Mazda 6 Rumors
It’s not surprising that the latest report isn’t too different from what we’ve already heard. Numerous rumors throughout the years have pointed to 2022 being the year that Mazda will launch its RWD Mazda sedan. Even Mazda CEO Masamichi Kogai has said that 2022 will be the year when the car is released.
The car is redesigned to have a more attractive appearance. The new design for the Mazda 6 will have an innovative look, with an eye-catching front end. The headlights are now more angular, and feature LED daytime running lights.
The 2023 Mazda 6 speculations were in line with those suggesting that the model could receive new inline-six engines that were also believed to be released in the coming year.
Mazda’s powertrain lineup will include the 3.0-liter diesel inline-six engine paired with a mild hybrid system that is 48-volt. The engine produces a maximum power of 174hp and a peak torque of 320Nm at 1,500rpm.
The Japanese carmaker has not revealed any details on the performance of the new sedan. Still, considering that the carmaker also unveiled the Mazda 6 Fastback Coupe Concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show, it is likely that the vehicle will be offered with a more powerful engine.
